About Daniel F. Pepe
Greetings! The best I can describe myself is I am a Radical Extremist Conservative Christian. When people first meet they look for labels so they can better understand who the person they are meeting is. That is why I did so at the very beginning of this article. But labels can be very confusing in understanding who the person really is, so I want to tell you some facts about me and you can give me whatever label suites you best. I will add more to this later through links where you can learn more about any area of my life that you are interested in learning more about.
I was born in California. After my mom left my dad, they eventually divorced, I moved to Oklahoma with my mom, future step-dad and 2 brothers. My mom and step dad had a very ugly divorced in 1982 that was a very traumatic and deadly experience. I married my wife in Oklahoma in 1984 and we moved to Texas a couple of years after that. I July 1983 I joined the US Navy and was in the Navy for 6 years under a special program that allowed me to go directly into the Reserves. In May 1984 I went to Bootcamp followed by a 4 week course in basic seamanship and then doing weekend drills once a month and Active Duty for Training 2 weeks a year. We still live in the same area of Texas today. I have only been married once and I am still married to her today. We have one child, a son, and our household also has a widow who is my wife’s oldest sister, so we are a family household of 4 adults.
I have had strong interests in politics and Christianity since my early years. I am a High School graduate and I hold no degrees of higher education and no certificates that identify me as a minister or member of the clergy. I formerly held 4 local political offices, all in Southmayd, Texas. I work in the Construction Industry as the Preconstruction Director for a Design-Build General Contractor that specializes in Self- Storage facilities. I have worked in the construction industry most of my adult life.
I have “church” where ever I go. I am currently not a registered member of any congregation. Over the last few years I visited very few churches. Since November 2023 I have started attending a couple of congregations on a more consistent basis. I have attended a few local congregations over the course on my lifetime, but also have went long periods of time without going to any congregation at all. I haven’t “arrived” or “got it all figured out” by any means, but I know I am saved by the finished work of Christ Jesus and His obedience and I am continuing to work out my sanctification. I am far…very, very, very far…from perfect apart from our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus and struggle with sin in my life that I need to get rid of. I still stumble, fall and fail every day. I make mistakes. I am a weirdo and a peculiar person. I do not think like most of you do, so I am very often misunderstood.
I am not the same person I was last year, last week or yesterday and I hope and pray that I will not be the same person tomorrow. I want to grow in Christ Jesus and His love. I desire to glorify Him by doing the work He has called me to do. Not to earn salvation, but because He gave His life for me. I want to work for Him by allowing Him to do His work through me. He gave His life for me, so that He could give His life to me, so that He can live His life through me. He has done, will do and can do the same for and through you. Although I identified as a Christian most of my life, since November 2023, I am no longer a person who wants to attack, place blame, hurt, judge or make anyone feel bad, sorrowful or useless.
I am not here to beat anyone up or to share a message with you because God wants to beat you up. I am here to speak what I believe is from God and to help you see things differently and encourage you to be bold and effective for God and do His work and grow and heal. I am here only to help and edify you, not tear you down. I am here because I truly love and care about each and every one of you and I am saddened and tormented by what I see happening in our church and our world today. If you feel attacked or hurt by anything I say, then you have misunderstood me and I have failed to communicate properly with you. I hope if that happens, you will reach out to me and try to clear it up and work towards unity in Christ Jesus with me.
Since November 2023, I also am also working in the political realm as well. It could also be classified as community involvement. When my term as Mayor of Southmayd, Texas expired in June 2011, I stepped away from these areas. I have been working to get more involved again. I have no current desire to hold political office, but will do so if the need arises. I would much rather work to support those in office and who are working to make our world a better place. I spend time keeping up with current political and social issues as best I can.
As I am sure you are aware, there is so much misinformation, hyperbole, division and hate that it is hard to get to what the actual facts are. Many people are talking, but few are listening. Most of those who are talking are not sharing ideas that are working towards a solution. I want to work with anyone who will encage in mutually respectful and mutually beneficial conversations that work toward solutions to the many issues that plague our world. I do not want to waste my time listening to anything else.
As a Christian, for me, it is impossible for me to separate my faith in Our Creator from my political or social life. I only have one life and one face. I am not interested in being two-faced or living multiple lives at the same time. However, I do my best to be respectful to those who have different opinions, political ideologies or faiths without compromising who I am, being rude or disrespectful. It has always puzzled me why we embrace diversity in our financial portfolios and claim the strength of our nation is in our diversity, but then see it as a horrible thing in our society and tolerate division and hate. I am not about supporting or promoting any tolerance of hate, compromising our principles and promoting division, I am about embracing our founding documents and principles and working to live together in peace and unity in a way that is mutually respectful and mutually beneficial to everyone.
My current goals are to work to be a better disciple of Christ Jesus and advance His Kingdom on earth while at the same time working to build Unity in our Community and world.
